From Instagram to IRL: My Book Tour Adventure So Far!

Hey everyone, it’s Dr. Syreeta B from @fashionablepmp, and I’m thrilled to share my book tour experience so far! It’s been a whirlwind of excitement, meeting readers, and sharing my passion for work-life magic and project management.

My Latest Book: "Unleash Your Inner Bad Bitch"

For those who haven’t heard, my book, "Unleash Your Inner Bad Bitch", launched recently, and it’s been amazing to see the response from all of you. It’s truly a dream come true to connect with readers on a deeper level. The book tour has provided the perfect opportunity to do just that.

Highlights from the Road

New Orleans

The WoPM conference launch event in New Orleans was electric! Lines formed as eager attendees awaited autographed copies of my book. Each woman was filled with excitement, and I felt the strong sisterhood in the air.

Houston

Directly after New Orleans, I faced a three-hour drive to Houston from my home in Austin. My husband and daughter joined me for the ride. At that time, Hurricane Beryl was expected to turn toward Houston the following evening. I had a feeling that Saturday should be fine, especially since the Shrine Cultural Center hadn't called or emailed to cancel my event.

However, just an hour from Houston, we encountered a heavy storm. Initially, I thought of turning back, but my husband suggested we push through. Thankfully, the rain eventually subsided. But my heart sank when I arrived at the venue and saw only two cars in the parking lot. After parking next to a security guard, I inquired whether the venue was closed. To my dismay, he confirmed that everyone had left around 2:30 PM. My event was scheduled for 5 PM!

The owner emerged and had the audacity to say I should have called first. I expressed my frustration, explaining that I had driven three hours to get there. After that disappointing experience, we turned around and drove back. I made a quick stop at Whataburger to stretch my legs and feed the family before heading home. I don't plan to return to that venue; their lack of professionalism was disheartening. If you know of another bookstore in the Houston area that would be interested in hosting me, please let me know!

Austin

Next, I hosted a fantastic Q&A session at Black Pearl Bookstore in Austin. Readers asked insightful questions about my writing process, what inspired me to create this book, and what my next book will be. The conversations were vibrant and engaging, truly highlighting the community spirit.

What’s Next?

The adventure is far from over! Here are my upcoming stops:

• New York City: July 27th at Word Up Communteria Bookstore

• Los Angeles: August 3rd at Bodega Santa Monica

Reflection on the Journey

Every stop on this tour has provided me with invaluable experiences. Meeting women who resonate with my message inspires me to continue writing and expanding my reach. It’s not just about selling books. It’s about creating a conversation and forming connections.

The feedback I’ve received has also been humbling. Many women have shared how much they relate to the themes discussed in “Unleash Your Inner Bad Bitch.” The discussions I have at each stop deepen my understanding of what readers want from my work and how I can help them on their personal journeys.

The stories are endless, and the connections are meaningful. I feel an obligation to foster this community and share our collective strength.
